Sex Ed Supervisor Training: 201
|
All districts providing sex education in Michigan must have a Sex Ed Supervisor who supervises instruction (ยง380.1507). Supervisors can be health educators with 3 or more years of experience teaching health content, a registered nurse or physician, or other administrator as appointed by the district.
The Sex Ed Supervisor 201 is an orientation for sex ed supervisors who are already familiar with Michigan law & policy. The focus of this training is on running a sex ed advisory board. Every district that chooses to implement sex education must have a sex education advisory board (SEAB). The SEAB must include parents of children attending the district's schools, pupils in the district's schools, educators, local clergy, and community health professionals. In this training, supervisors will develop a meeting agenda for their first 3 meetings with their SEAB.
Supervisors will also share resources, and discuss needs for the upcoming school year and how those needs can be supported by their regional school health coordinator.
A zoom link & agenda will be provided to registered participants a week prior to the training. The meeting & work time will run from 1-3 p.m.. The facilitator will stay on to answer questions & schedule follow up support from 3:00 - 3:30 p.m..
