This workshop for 4th-6th grade teachers facilitates best practices in instruction for HIV prevention education. Topics covered include curriculum selection, laws around reproductive health education and HIV prevention education in Michigan, data on HIV and other STIs, and answering challenging questions. At this workshop, 4th & 5th grade Michigan Model for Health HIV lessons are disseminated.
Per Michigan law, any teacher teaching HIV must go through this training prior to instruction. It is also strongly suggested that anyone teaching Sex Ed or HIV attend this training once every 5 years. This training is applicable for classroom teachers responsible for convering HIV content, or health educators teaching grades 4-6. Registrants will receive the zoom link and agenda 1 week prior to the start of the training.
Please note: This workshop is offered twice; participants only need to attend one of the training dates. If you are unable to attend either date and need to participate in the training, please reach out to Helen Craig, School Health Coordinator, at hcraig-isd@eupschools.org for assistance.
5 SCECH are available if you register 24 hours in advance.
