Building Strong Foundations in Counting and Quantity in PreK Classrooms
|
|
This training will focus on supporting children’s early math development through intentional counting experiences. Teachers will learn strategies to help children use number words and numerals in meaningful contexts, practice one-to-one correspondence while counting, and accurately determine a given quantity. We will also explore how to demonstrate and reinforce the important concept that the last number stated in a count represents the total amount. Additionally, participants will practice guiding children in comparing quantities using terms such as "more," "less/fewer," and "same/equal." Through hands-on activities and discussion, teachers will leave with practical techniques to integrate these skills into daily routines, play, and learning opportunities.
