Preschool Phonemic Awareness Manual Pilot (Heggerty)
|
|
Through this PST, participants will engage with the four selected framework elements to enhance professional practice, refine delivery, and maximize student literacy outcomes: - Plan and Prepare: Educators will unpack the scope and sequence of the new preschool Heggerty curriculum, learning to integrate daily 10–12 minute micro- lessons into existing schedules. Collaboration will focus on preparing multi- sensory hand motions and scaffolding strategies ahead of time to ensure seamless, age-appropriate execution.
- Engage and Instruct: Participants will refine explicit, fast-paced instructional routines—such as rhyme recognition, onset fluency, blending, and segmenting —using playful, active-response techniques that keep early learners focused and energized during whole-group and small-group times.
- Assess and Analyze: Teachers will utilize progress-monitoring tools and observational data to track phonemic awareness milestones, identify specific skill gaps, and evaluate the overall effectiveness of the curriculum pilot across participating preschool classrooms.
- Reflect and Adjust: Through collaborative PST sessions, educators will review classroom footage, student progress, and implementation challenges to adapt pacing, differentiate support for diverse learners, and continuously improve instructional fidelity throughout the pilot.
