Advanced Morphology Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham Training

Using the Yoshimoto OG lesson as the foundation, participants will learn a direct, explicit,
and systematic way to introduce the world of morphology to all students. The morphology
instruction can be used across all educational settings and levels of support including whole
class, small group, or 1:1. Direct attention will be placed on both the “how” and “why” of
morphology instruction, as well as, the importance of embedding morphology instruction
throughout the day by linking it to content areas. The Advanced Morphology Yoshimoto OG
training provides knowledge that is essential for all students from early elementary through
high school.

 
Participants will:

? Become familiar with key morphology concepts including prefixes, suffixes, and roots. ?Build background knowledge about the history of the English language through specific
discussion around the Greek, Latin, and Anglo Saxon layers.
? Receive opportunities to observe and practice explicit routines to introduce and review
prefixes, suffixes, and roots.
? Receive a variety of resources and materials to support integration of morphology into theY-OG lesson and throughout the academic day.


NOTE: THE PREREQUISITE FOR THIS CLASS IS THE YOSHIMOTO OG BASIC TRAINING (40 hours). The morphology instruction builds upon the knowledge base and practice from the BASIC 
training. If you have not taken the Y-OG Basic Training, please make plans to do that before
