ELA Grades 6-12: Patterns of Power: Inviting Writers into the Conventions of Language and Grammar

Patterns of Power supports ELA teachers who are hungry for a standards aligned approach in assisting writers with the conventions of language and grammar. The Patterns of Power books, provide a philosophy, models and lessons for implementing how to teach conventions and grammar in context. Teachers will read and apply the techniques learned while also collaborating with one another on how this informs instruction within the 6-12 ELA curriculum. Participants will receive a copy of Patterns of Power: Inviting Adolescent Writers into the Conventions of Language Grades 6-8 or Patterns of Power: Teaching Grammar Through Reading and Writing Grades 9-12 by Jeff Anderson. Asynchronous discussions will utilize Schoology.
