AW 2026: Using Technology Resources in the World Language Classroom
|
|
This professional development program provides World Language
educators with targeted training on the effective use of various technology resources to support language
acquisition and differentiated instruction. Participants will learn how to
select, assign, and customize skill-based practice in IXL to reinforce grammar,
vocabulary, and language structures, as well as how to use Newsela to support authentic
reading, cultural awareness, and proficiency-based instruction at varying
language levels. Educators will gain skills in using platform data to monitor
student progress, provide timely feedback, and adjust instruction to meet
individual learner needs. The intentional use of these tools enhances student
engagement, supports differentiated learning, and promotes growth in reading,
writing, and language proficiency.

Learner Outcomes
|
|
This program directly supports participants within the World
Language certification and instructional assignment by aligning digital
instructional tools to language-specific standards and proficiency goals. The
training applies across languages and levels, allowing teachers to adapt IXL
and Newsela resources to their specific courses while maintaining consistent
instructional practices. As a result, all World Language educators are equipped
with strategies to differentiate instruction, assess student progress, and
support language development within their assigned courses.
