Participants are required to attend both days of PREPaRE Workshop 2. PREPaRE Workshop 1 and Workshop 2 are stand alone trainings. Participants are not required to attend PREPaRE Workshops in any sequential order. Participants are not required to attend both workshops. 

There is a small amount of pre-work required to attend this event. You will receive an email one week prior to the training with more details. Some handouts will either need to be printed ahead of time or accessed electronically during the workshop. Please plan accordingly. PREPaRE Workshop 2 is appropriate for any individual providing direct crisis intervention, crisis teams, and district and building administrators. This includes school mental health staff (school psychologists, social workers, counselors, and nurses), administrators, and other individuals whom the team has identified as appropriate.

This workshop will help: 

1. Reduce anxiety and fear associated with the provision of school mental health crisis interventions;

2. Increase knowledge and confidence associated with the provision of school mental health crisis interventions;

3. Identify variables that help to estimate the number of individuals traumatized by a crisis;

4. Recognize the difference between common crisis reactions and mental illness;

5. Identify the elements of school crisis preparedness specified by the PREPaRE acronym;

6. Recognize risk factors that predict psychological trauma;

7. Identify the warning signs that indicate psychological trauma;

8. Place PREPaRE mental health crisis interventions on a multitiered continuum ranging from least to most restrictive; and

9. Match the degree of psychological trauma risk to the appropriate school crisis interventions.
