This is a
recertification training opportunity for staff members who have current Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification. As a reminder, certifications are valid for two years.
Completion of a refresher course is required to maintain certification in use
of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention strategies and procedures.
CPI Nonviolent Crisis
Intervention (NCI) is a training program designed to equip staff with skills to
prevent and manage challenging behaviors in crisis situations. It emphasizes
proactive responses, de-escalation techniques, and safe disengagements, with
the goal of using physical interventions as a last resort. This training meets
a portion of the requirements for key identified personnel, as required by the
Michigan Department of Education Policy for the Emergency Use of Seclusion and
Restraint.
This is a one-day training. Participants are asked to register for the session that best fits their schedule.
