           CPI - Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training [A]
Certified: Gets .50 Inservice Credit and Aides/Assistants will be paid for their time and will receive a certificate for their records. Any teacher/employee of the Washoe County District who works directly with students with behavioral/aggressive concerns. This course offers an introduction and proactive model with techniques to provide a safe environment. The preventive techniques will teach the student to identify useful nonverbal techniques in prevention of acting out behavior, to develop verbal techniques to be implemented when de-escalation of verbal acting out is necessary, to understand physical principles of persons on safety techniques to avoid student and staff injury if behavior scales to a physical level and to provide for the best care and welfare. Inservice credit is only available if this course is taken during non-contract hours.
           Diving Deep into STAR [A]
This course is designed to help teachers better understand the STARS curriculum. Experienced or novice, this class will help teachers better utilize the STARS curriculum

Open to Clayton, Swope MS Literacy II Cadre only. Participants will examine theory and research supporting content literacy and implement practical strategies that meet the needs of students with varied reading levels, cultures, and linguistic backgrounds. Emphasis will be on academic vocabulary and connections to SIOP. Inservice credit is only available if this course is taken during non-contract hours.
           Trends and Issues in Autism
This course is designed to help teachers understand current trends and issues in Autism treatment.
