****FOR WCSD Employees who have been designated by the school nurse and principal to function as a full time clinical aide back-up****** A four-hour course consisting of training/overview of Student Health Services’ medication policies, management of accidents and illness, confidentiality, and blood-borne pathogen training. NOTE: This training does NOT include CPR or First Aid Certification.

****FOR WCSD Employees who have been designated by the school nurse and principal to function as a full time clinical aide.****** A two day mandatory training for newly hired Clinical Aides. The first day of training consists of an overview of Student Health Services´ policies/procedures, medication training, and bloodborne pathogen training. The second day of training consists of shadowing a veteran clinical aide at a school site, and diabetes training.

Open free to current PE Teachers, SpecEd Teachers, Clinical Aides, VI Teachers, Occupational Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Coaches, Speech Pathologists, SpecEd Assistants and Aides, and PE Aides under NRS 391.092. All others pay $25.00 including New WCSD Employees and employees who are not mandated by WCSD to have CPR. Employee ID cards are required to sign in and attend CPR
EMPLOYEES NOT REQUIRED TO BE CPR CERTIFIED UNDER NRS 391.092 WILL BE CHARGED $25. Any individual who would like to request a reasonable accommodation in order to attend a CPR class offered by WCSD, should contact the Student Health Services Department at (775) 353-5966.
This course complies with the guidelines established by the American Heart Association for certification in the administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. AED Training (Automated External Defibrillator) will be included.

           Healthcare Provider CPR [A]

NURSING STAFF ONLY***** American Heart sanctioned Healthcare Provider CPR course covers one and two person CPR for adults, children and infants, use of bag mask in various circumstances with a variety of victims, AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use. Airway obstruction removal techniques for adults, children and infants.

           Heartsaver Basic First Aid

*****FOR CLINICAL AIDES ONLY***** American Heart sanctioned First Aid course for clinical aides only. Course covers basic first aid skills in response to common emergencies. Skills include but not limited to, first aid basics, medical emergencies, injury emergencies, and environmental emergencies.

           Initial Training for Emergency Tracheostomy Management [A]

FOR WCSD Unlicensed Assistive Personnel who provide care for students who require emergency tracheostomy management as delegated by the School Nurse. Training consists of an overview of tracheostomy and airway emergencies,tracheostomy tube suctioning and replacement, and rescue ventilation via ambu bag.

           Review of Emergency Tracheostomy Management [A]

A review of emergency tracheostomy management for WCSD Unlicensed Assistive Personnel who are currently providing care for students with tracheostomies as delegated by the School Nurse.
