Special Education SubcategoryLabeling a child as handicapped is a complex process and decision. As our County moves into revisions in our Learning Disability guidance, documentation of student response to instruction, and application of common constructs of cognition and learning, this is an opportunity for professionals to come together. The purpose of these sessions is dialogue and learning for the practicing professional who if involved in the eligibility determination process. The evidence is convincing that we have new and better ways of connecting special education identification practices to valid statements about the learner and to instructional interventions. Be prepared for book study, case review, and engaging dialogue intended to deepen and improve our ways of knowing student learning. The audience for these dialogue sessions may include school psychologists, teacher consultants, principals, special education directors, curriculum directors, and reading teachers. This course will cover the basic rules and fine points of administration, scoring, and interpretation of the WJIII/Nu Tests of Cognitive Abilities. The key objective is to provide a solid foundation for using the WJIII/NU COG, in both diagnosing and planning for intervention. An overview of the Cattell-Horn-Carroll theory, along with administration basics of the Standard and Extended Battery will be provided. Use of the Compuscore and Profiles Program and application of available scores will be included. This is a One Day course. You may be moved to the date closest to your preferred registration date to control class sizes. You will receive communications through email. Please make sure your contact information is correct and check your email regularly. The audience for this course is School Psychologists and persons who meet the qualification standards to administer and interpret tests of cognitive abilities only. Attention: School Psychologists and qualified users of complete battery – Recommendation to attend either 2-consecutive day Cognitive/Achievement course OR attend 1 day Cognitive and 1 day Achievement training to obtain Wayne County WJ-III Certificate of Training Completion. This course will cover the basic rules and fine points of administration, scoring, and interpretation of the WJIII/Nu Tests of Achievement. The key objective is to provide a solid foundation for using the WJIII/NU ACH, including an overview of the theoretical background, basal and ceiling rules, computing raw scores, and obtaining estimated and grade-equivalent scores. A brief overview and use of the Compuscore and Profiles Program will be provided. This is a One Day course. You may be moved to the date closest to your preferred registration date to control class sizes. You will receive communications through email. Attention: School Psychologists and qualified users of complete battery – Recommendation to attend either 2-consecutive day Cognitive/Achievement course OR attend 1 day Cognitive and 1 day Achievement training to obtain Wayne County WJ-III Certificate of Training Completion. This course is a 2 day course for users of the complete Woodcock-Johnson III/Nu Cognitive and Achievement Tests Battery with Scoring/Interpretation software. The course will cover the basic rules and fine points of administration, scoring, and interpretation of the WJIII/Nu Tests of Cognitive Abilities and the WJIII/Nu Tests of Achievement. . The key objective is to provide a solid foundation for using the complete battery, in both diagnosing and planning for intervention. An overview of the Cattell-Horn-Carroll theory, along with administration basics of the Standard and Extended Battery will be provided. Use of the Compuscore and Profiles Program and application of available scores will be included. This is a Two Consecutive Day Course. Persons who complete the 2 days of training will be provided with Wayne County WJ-III Certificate of Training Completion. The audience for this course is School Psychologists and qualified users of the complete battery. Proof of qualifications to interpret cognitive tests required. If you need flexibility in scheduling, you may schedule to attend a Cognitive Test One-Day course PLUS Achievement Test One-Day course to obtain the Wayne County WJ-III Certificate of Training Completion. |
