Collins - Chadwell: 5 Types of Writing
This is a writing course, not to turn all teachers into English teachers, but to help all teachers in all content areas achieve their goals by requiring students to think on paper. This is required by using frequent, usually short, writing assignments to increase stduents’ involvement in lessons, check on their understanding of concepts, or promote their thinking about content. In this course, participants will not only learn how to have students write about the content of the class they are taking, but will also learn how to encourage them to reflect on what they are doing and to have them take responsibility for their own learning and understanding.
