Target Group: Licensed teachers, K-12. The PA grant will pay for books for teachers working at the elementary and K-8 schools participating in the grant. You must register by Jan.8 in order to receive your book. Secondary teachers will need to buy their own book.

In this class, teachers will read SPARK: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain, by John J. Ratey, MD. Through completely online sessions, we will discuss how the research resonates with personal lives, and the implications for the classroom. Teachers will share strategies for incorporating more movement into classrooms and schools. We will reflect and share strategies for teaching kids to use exercise and movement to manage emotions, while also learning that exercise releases chemicals in the brain to make learning possible. Weekly reading and online discussions allow participants to work when and where schedules allow.
