Included in the workshop are the elements necessary for instruction and classroom management to blend seamlessly to support challenging academic goals for the learning and achievement of all students. Topics included are, but not limited to: communication or learning styles, interventions of difficult behaviors, hints to create a smoothly flowing classroom, tools to building positive teacher relationships and an opportunity to link with a partner for future support. The workshop taught by LPS practitioners is designed to impart as much information as possible while maintaining an interactive approach. This workshop is recommended for teachers in their first five years of teaching and any teacher who wants a refresher course or wants to hone their skills.

      X00583 - (Flex-10/7.0) Tier I RTI Behavior [A]
The overall goal of the class will be to assist school leadership teams to become familiar with Tier I procedures. Participants will begin to develop an understanding of Tier´s 1, 2, & 3, as well as RTI and how it fits within the SAT process. Participants will also start the process of implementing RtI (Behavior) practices in their buildings during the 2009-10 school year (Tier 1). The class will include direct instruction, case examples, team planning time, large group sharing from teams, school based self assessment of current Tier 1 practices and time for Q and A´s. There will be guest presenters and homework assignments.
      X00584 - (Flex-10/7.0) Tier II RtI Behavior Interventions
The overall goal of the class will be to assist school teams to become familiar with Tier 2 procedures using functional behavioral assessments to develop interventions. Time will also be spent discussing procedures, data collection, connection to student assistance process and special education verification. Participants will start the process of implementing RtI (Behavior) interventions in their buildings during the 2009-10 school year. The class will include direct instruction, case examples, team planning time, large group sharing from teams, school based self assessment of current Tier II practices and time for Q and A´s. There will be guest presenters and homework assignments.

Have you ever wondered what your students feel like when they´re asked to create or compose? This unique writing opportunity encourages teachers to explore the writer within as they wander and write their way through several self-selected locations. It is all about seeing the world as a writer and giving oneself the chance to experience this. Participants will learn about Writing Marathons developed by Natalie Goldberg and modeled by The Nebraska Writing Project. Bring your favorite writing utensils.
