Foundations of Cognitive Coaching: Cohort 2 - Day 7 and Day 8
Cognitive CoachingSM training is a process that supports individuals and organizations in becoming self-directed. Coaches train individuals in the use of maps and tools needed to mediate another’s thinking. The metaphor or maps and tools is used to indicate the dynamic, individualized way in which coaching takes place. Each coach uses the maps and tools in slightly different ways, but always focuses on mediating thinking. The three maps of Cognitive CoachingSM are: Planning, reflecting and problems-solving. Each map has identified elements, which are learned in the training. The three maps interact with each other. When a person reflects on something he/she has done, they often begin thinking about the next activity or event and begin planning, based on what they learned from reflecting on a previous experience.
