21f Information Meeting

Participants will learn about the requirements of the 21f law which is in effect beginning with the 2nd semester of 2013/2014 school year. Barb Fardell from the Michigan Department of Education will provide guidance for districts as they work to fully implement the requirements of this new law. Topics will include: Legislation requirements for school districts to accommodate requests from students in grades 5 through 12 when they ask to take up to two online courses per semester Clarification as to the Statewide catalog, as managed by Michigan Virtual University Payment requirements for districts Pupil accounting rules to address 21f Who may choose to deny the request if they feel the student is not a good fit for online learning How a district might partner with vendors or better yet, start their own programs to offer courses via the statewide catalog This 2 hour session is suggested for superintendents, curriculum directors, counselors, principals and technology staff that will be involved in the implementation of this initiative.
