Child Abuse and Prevention Treatment Act and Early On
The purpose of this training is to increase the knowledge of Early On personnel and Department of Human Services (DHS) Child Protective Services (CPS) staff in the requirements and process for referring children from DHS to Early On. Both systems need to be aware of the requirements set forth in the Child Abuse and Prevention Treatment Act (CAPTA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). At the end of the training, participants will have an understanding of how each system takes children, birth to three, through the process. Child welfare and outcomes should be improved when systems understand the requirements of one another.
