H & D 09-10: Michigan Model for Health Grades: K-1 11/30/09
Session: 1315 Audience: K-1 teachers and support staff who implement the elementary Michigan Model for Health® Curriculum. Course Narrative: This overview training will focus on the six themes framing the revised Michigan Model for Health® Curriculum; nutrition and physical activity, social and emotional health, personal health and wellness, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, safety and HIV education. Course Objectives: Participants will: * Create an understanding of philosophy and goals of the revised Michigan Model for Health® * Examine the newly revised (2008) grade level manuals, and materials * Disseminate current health content information; particularly in the area of nutrition * Develop a comfort level for using the revised curriculum manual * Preview instructional materials used in the curriculum * Connect the implementation of school health education across Michigan´s core content areas.
