Audience:
K-1 teachers and support staff who implement the elementary Michigan Model for Health® Curriculum.
Course Narrative:
This overview training will focus on the six themes framing the revised Michigan Model for Health® Curriculum; nutrition and physical activity, social and emotional health, personal health and wellness, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, safety and HIV education.
Course Objectives:
Participants will:
* Create an understanding of philosophy and goals of the revised Michigan Model for Health®
* Examine the newly revised (2008) grade level manuals, and materials
* Disseminate current health content information; particularly in the area of nutrition
* Develop a comfort level for using the revised curriculum manual
* Preview instructional materials used in the curriculum
* Connect the implementation of school health education across Michigan´s core content areas.

If you register after November 16, 2009 you will not receive SPLASH/NON-SPLASH Kits/Materials at the Training. You will recieve your materials approximately 2 weeks after training.
