IT-NC-ComputerAppsII-Fall2009-WRESA
Session: 954 This two-day session will cover basic technical aspects of web page development from a technical standpoint. The session will begin with a review of HTML essentials, and discussion of how XML and XHTML can enhance HTML’s capabilities. From there the focus will be on Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Participants will learn how CSS works, how it can be used to control and change the look and layout of a web page, and how an external CSS style sheet can help manage the design of an entire web site. The role of Java applets and JavaScript will be discussed, along with practical matters such as file and folder management. The use of html editors including Dreamweaver and nVU will be introduced. An emphasis will be placed on how to teach this content so that students can understand what HTML and CSS do, and how to write simple code and edit more complex code. Participants must bring their own laptop to participate in the hands-on portions of this session. |
