2009 Digital Media Resource Orientation Session
ExplorNet/The Centers for Quality Teaching and Learning will provide a basic curriculum structure and teaching resources for Digital Media in 2009-10. Participating teachers will be able to access resources, share materials and connect with other Digital Media teachers across North Carolina online through a Moodle-based environment. Though not in final form, the materials provided will be sufficient to guide instruction to prepare students for an end-of-course assessment, to be sent to CTE directors in the fall. Teachers who need the 40-hour training to be certified to teach Digital Media should sign up for the course at Middle Creek High beginning Sept. 12 (www.qtlcenters.org/it/training/digitalmedia.htm). Those who have already met certification requirements for the state may register here to participate in the ExplorNet Digital Media program and receive access to 2009-10 resources available through Moodle. The cost of $295 covers access to the online materials in 2009-10 as well as instruction on how to access the materials (via email, online orientation, or voucher to attend a one-day orientation Sept. 12 at MCHS). After registering, contact Robin Fred at 888.507.3800 ext. 228 or rfred@qtlcenters.org to arrange orientation.

The latter half of training features networks administration and an overview of operating systems, then an in-depth look at Windows networking. Participants will emerge with a basic understanding of the content and the QTL resources at their disposal, and will have an understanding of what extra study will be required to help them meet certification objectives. Cost of $1,400 includes the annual $650 renewal fee; any school that has already paid the renewal receives a credit for that amount.
