Teaching Reproductive Health Education 2010

Course Goal: This course is designed to increase teacher competency in the areas of teaching methodology, utilization of available materials and resources, and command of subject matter and legislation related to human sexuality and family life education.

Course Objectives: By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Identify components of effective prevention education.
  • Examine the various issues related to teaching reproductive health education.
  • Modify district reproductive programs in accordance with laws and regulations impacting reproductive health education in Michigan.
  • Incorporate new knowledge and skills related to the teaching of reproductive health, including: anatomy and physiology, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, sexual minority youth, HIV/AIDS, and skill-based instruction.
  • Incorporate new knowledge and skills related to the teaching of decision-making, communication, and reduction of risk.


Cost: $80.00.

SBCEUs pending approval.
