Global Issues and Instructional Activities for 6th & 7th Gr. Social Studies

October 28, 2009 and February 10, 2010

8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. each session

This workshop is designed to help teachers meet the 6th & 7th grade GLCE with engaging instructional activities. We will also explore ideas for Global Issues Capstone Projects.

*Oil as a global issue and persuasive essay

February 10 Topics
*National Geographic resources for teaching Africa
*Islands Activity
*Cities of The World and Capstone Activity
*Population Activity
*International Organizations

Presenter: Kristi Karis, Teacher Consultant Michigan Geographic Alliance; Teacher Trainer Population Connection; Coordinator My Wonderful World and student-teacher supervisor for Hope College. Kristi has 25 years of middle school teaching experience.

Cost: $60.00 (includes materials, lunch and resources)

Credit: 1.0 SB-CEUs available pending approval
