This course introduces participants to a series of movement activities that enhance whole-brain learning and integrate the brain and body. These activities make learning easier and are especially effective with academic skills.
Brain Gym® is a series of quick, fun energizing activities. These activities are effective in preparing any learner for specific thinking and coordination skills.
Bal-A-Vis-X is a series of Balance / Auditory / Vision eXercises, of varied complexity, most of which are deeply rooted in rhythm. These exercises require full-body coordination and focused attention.
When done regularly over a period of time Brain Gym and Bal-A-Vis-X activities have been found to:
- Restore a feeling of calmness and control
- Improve visual and aural perception
- Increase long and short-term memory
- Improve focus
- Reduce hyperactivity
Objectives of the Workshop:
Participants will learn a series of Brain Gym® movements and Bal-A-Vis-X activities. They will also learn how these movements and activities are connected to brain research and learning. Participants will take from this workshop a menu of activities that can be immediately implemented in their own lives and with students.
(All participants should wear comfortable clothes and shoes and be prepared to move.)
