February 11, 2010 Literary Essays: Writing About Reading

March 24, 2010 Memoir: The Art of Writing Well

April 22, 2010 Using the Units for MEAP prep

Time: 4:30-8:00 p.m. each session

Cost: $150 (includes 8 sessions with dinner served)

This series is for those teachers who have used the Units of Study for Teaching Writing by Lucy Calkins and colleagues for at least one year and want to strengthen their skills in writing workshop.

Each session will include:
  • Sharing with colleagues
  • Conferring book study using How’s it Going? A Practical Guide to Conferring with Student Writers by Carl Anderson
  • Looking at student writing for assessment and grading
  • Identifying alternate mentor texts for teaching points
Limited Enrollment of 30 participants
