Time: 4:30-8:00 p.m. except September 23 and November 11 (time noted above)

Cost: $150 (includes 8 sessions with lunches and/or dinner served)

Work with area teachers implementing the Lucy Calkins Units of Study to understand how to use them in your classroom. Each session you will leave with lesson plans for implementing the units with your students. You will have opportunities to share successes and struggles throughout the year and get the support of colleagues to solve problems and share ideas.

The September session will focus on beginning writers’ workshop and laying the foundation for a successful year for you and your students.

Subsequent sessions will address the remaining units of study, aligning them with Michigan Grade Level Content Expectations and developing plans for implementation you can use in your classroom. You must bring your own Units of Study books.

Each full day session will include lunch and each evening session will include dinner.

Target Audience: Educators in Grades K–2 who are just beginning to use the Units of Study or have had no training in their use.

Each participant must provide their own Units of Study for Teaching Writing by Lucy Calkins to use in the workshops and for classroom implementation.

Limited Enrollment of 30 participants
