Computer Experience
|
(For boys and girls ages 9 through 14)
Computer Experience is meant for a student who wants to learn how to program a computer. The computer curriculum covers BASIC, HTML, JAVA and C++ computer language instruction. Participants also experience what it is like to function as designers, scientists, inventors and engineers by utilizing LEGO Logo to design and build motorized machines. Practice in programming and LEGO Logo is given for two hours every morning and two hours every afternoon. One person is assigned to each computer during programming; teams of two are assigned during LEGO Logo.
For one hour every morning and one hour every afternoon, participants will take part in an outdoor program involving noncompetitive individual and group activities which build confidence and stress agility, rather than strength. There will be a half hour for lunch. Participants may bring their own lunch or purchase it at Minuteman. (Breakfast is also available at Minuteman.)
Facilities: Linux based operating system computers; BASIC, JAVA, HTML and C++, software for LEGO Logo.
