Musical History and Appreciation:A Musical Walk through Time

(For students grades 8 & up) ~ This course is designed to explain how western music has evolved throughout history. The basic elements of music will be explained in the beginning, a journey from the medieval ages through to the 20th Century. Students will learn how to listen differently to music and experience listening to selected works in each historical period. The instructor, Priscilla Gale, teaches Music History and Appreciation at Middlesex Community College in Merident, CT. She is an opera singer whose career spans throughout the United Stages and Europe, and is a member of the faculty at Wesleyan University.
