(For students entering grade 5 and up) ~
Learn all the tricks and amaze your friends! In this course you will learn the fundamentals of the art of magic. Basic skills and techniques of magic will be taught; students will work up to developing a magic routine using cards, coins, handkerchiefs, ropes, etc. Emphasis will be on teaching students to teach and critique themselves so their studies may continue after the conclusion of the course. Showmanship, public speaking and creative thinking will also be stressed. Students in this course will also be viewing and discussing video presentations of magic’s masters, including David Copperfield, Lance Burton and Doug Henning, this will guide students through the history of magic as a performing art. No special abilities are required – only the desire to learn and to have fun. Students must bring a notebook and pen/pencil to every class. NOTE: Some magic techniques taught in previous years will be repeated and some new techniques will also be explained. Max Nover has won several national awards for his magic presentations. A member of the Society of American Magicians, he is also a past president of the Society of Young Magicians. He is a protegé of David Oliver. Includes materials fee.
