Emergency Medical Training (Basic) - AE CT 124
Session: AE CT 124 Provides the student with the information needed to qualify for the Massachusetts Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Examination. Course content includes anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, resuscitation (including use of the semi-automatic external defibrillator/SAED, management of medical emergencies (respiratory, cardiac, OB/GYN including emergency childbirth, common disease/medical conditions, etc.) management of trauma-related emergencies (fractures, injuries to the head/neck/spine immobilization, injuries to the chest/abdomen/genitalia, bleeding, soft tissue injuries and shock, etc.) management of psychological emergencies, an outdoor auto extrication lab, hazardous materials incident management, documentation requirement and legal issues. Any missed sessions MUST BE SUCCESSFULLY MADE UP before the student can be certified as eligible for the Massachusetts EMT-Basic Examination. Successful completion of the course in it´s entirety is a prerequisite for eligibility for the Massachusetts EMT-Basic Examination. Forms giving Minuteman Career & Technical High School permission to conduct the CORI/SORI check must be signed by the student as part of the course registration process. Pre/Co Requisite: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification at the Healthcare Provider level (American Heart Association) or the Professional Resucuer level (American Red Cross). Copies of current certification cards must be submitted to the EMT Course Instructor for retention with student EMT course records. The EMT Course instructor offers a CPR certification course twice during the semester as a service to those who do not meet the pre-requisite. Refund Policy - Full refunds will be issued when a student withdraws from a course prior to the start date. A 75% refund will be issued to students withdrawing prior to the second class and 50% prior to the third class. No refunds will be issued after the third class, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
