Fiction/Memoir Writing Workshop (Face-to-Face) - AE WRITE 102
Learn to write and read short stories in a fun, supportive small-group setting. Explore the basics of writing fiction/memoir through exercises, discussion, and optional readings. Topics include developing characters, constructing a plot, creating a believable setting, and writing dialogue. In this workshop you’ll discuss scenes from your short story or memoir excerpt in progress, exchanging honest, constructive criticism with your classmates. Discussion will be guided by an experienced and responsive university instructor who has won awards for teaching as well as writing. Additional, optional discussions may take place online. Note: We regret that this class cannot accommodate writers of children’s fiction; however, writers of young adult fiction are welcome. Memoir-specific topics will be addressed privately as they will not apply to all students.
