Session: 6468 This workshop is Not,eligible for Professional Development Funds. To find out more about the PDF Guidelines click the following link: PDF Guidelines Use the Back button in your browser to return to this page when you are finished with the brochure. Target Audience: Secondary Teachers Never mind that rocks are exciting and beautiful! Michigan´s Earth Science content expectations in 6th grade and high school describe student performances where basic rock classification and origins are explained. In addition, rocks and fossils are to be used to interpret geologic histories and as evidence in support of the plate tectonic theory. The main goal of this workshop is to develop teacher ability to identify common rocks and minerals and relate them to the geologic processes that form and change them. In doing so, we will explore and interpret several classic occurrences. We will use some model instructional approaches that can be directly applied in the classroom.
