Target Audience: 7th Grade Teachers This workshop provides the participants with essential teacher background knowledge and is based upon activities selected to illustrate or enhance concepts presented in the K-7 Science Processes and the Grade Seven Physical Science Grade Level Content Expectations (Grade 7-Unit 1). Major concepts that will be investigated are: 1. Identification of the elements and compounds that make up matter; 2. Describing Matter using Chemical and Physical properties; 3. Exploring States of Matter; 4. Building a Model that describes Matter; and Exploring Changes in Matter. We will develop understanding of the states of matter, their behavior with more hands on activities. By understanding the properties and states of matter we can develop a model for matter and explain some of the changes that matter undergoes.
