Target Audience: Educators serving students in K-3 and ESL Teachers
Educators will participate in three full days of deep learning about the essential literacy practices and effective strategies to foster literacy and academic language development in English Learners, grades K-3. This professional learning stems from the Third Grade Reading Law and implications for K-3 English Learners and their teachers.
Participants will receive a copy of the K-3 Essential Instructional Practices, GELN to plan responsive literacy instruction for English Learners (ELs). The focus of the document is on the ten research based classroom practices that when implemented with fidelity, can have a positive impact on literacy development for ALL students. In addition, participants will walk away with a plethora of tools and resources to support English learners as well as native speakers in each of the Essential literacy practices.
