           The Coherent Curriculum
If we want social studies to make sense to students, it must first make sense to teachers. This session gets to the “nitty-gritty” in non-jargon terms of how the Standards and Benchmarks are connected. What ARE the Big Ideas? Just what is context anyway? How can we help kids to easily see how social studies is connected to science, math and English/language arts? What can every teacher do-K-12, to integrate social studies with the REAL WORLD of students – and without a new text, extra money or time in an already “crowded curriculum”.
