Paraeducator Area of Concentration Special Needs
Session: 7536 This 45-hour course includes an understanding of the goals and objectives of an IEP and the value of inclusion for students with special needs. The class works on instructional strategies for those assisting with instruction as well as the collection and presentation of behavior and academic performance data. The course covers learning more about the appropriate use of techniques in instruction, behavior reinforcement and assistive technology. You must have earned the Paraeducator Generalist Certificate to take this course. In addition to the 21 hours of face-to-face class time, there are 25+ hours of online and observation work to meet the course requirements.
This course meets two purposes:
