Transition IEPs That Lead to Postsecondary Success

As the state moves towards more periodic transition compliance audits, as well as recalibration of transition compliance, this full-day session will emphasize meaningful transition plans that will naturally fulfill B13 transition requirements.

Transition IEPs plan for courses, activities, goals, supports, and services that will assist in a successful transition beyond high school. Recent analyses of postsecondary transition outcomes for graduates of MBAEA high schools indicate as few as 8% of students with IEPs achieve their transition goal, and as few as 25% even begin to pursue these goals.

This training will provide an overview of what happens to students beyond high school graduation, how to integrate this information into transition planning for current students, and how to utilize progress-monitoring strategies to increase the likelihood that students will pursue and succeed in meeting their transition goals.

This event will include a work session that will allow participants to work on a compliant transition IEP.

The targeted audience includes secondary teachers, administrators, and AEA building staff.
