Family Guided Routines-Based Interventions 16-17

This course is open only to AEA employees.

Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI) is an ongoing research endeavor focused on developing and validating an early intervention approach incorporating IDEA Part C mandates and the recommended evidence-based practices for supports and services for young children with special needs and their families. Caregiver coaching research documents strategies that facilitate the implementation of FGRBI by caregivers with their children in everyday routines and activities. Together, FGRBI and Caregiver Coaching offer strategies for early intervention professionals across disciplines to support development of child and family outcomes.

Currently, the Iowa Department of Education is partnering with Florida State University to provide FGRBI training through a Distance Mentoring Model (DMM). The purpose of these sessions is to introduce basic FGRBI/DMM concepts as well as promote and support implementation of FGRBI/caregiver coaching practices for all Early ACCESS providers in Region 9.
