Redesigning the 90-minute Block
Small-group, Skills-based Reading Instruction

This session is full. You can register for the wait list and you will be notified by email if a spot becomes available.

This session will present an approach for differentiating instruction within the 90-minute block by carefully forming and planning for small groups of students with similar needs. Participants will review research-based options for sequencing components, examine sample instructional plans, and receive tips for dealing with the logistical challenges of small group instruction.

Effective Word Study Instruction for All Students

This session will present the research basis for these components and provide a suggested strategy for teaching them to elementary students. Participants will review sample lessons and see video demonstrations of the strategies being used in Iowa classrooms.
