Functional Behavior Training


This course is open only to AEA staff.

This course will cover the basic principles of behavior from an Applied Behavior Analysis approach and philosophy. Participants will learn the ABCs of behavior that impact the learning environment of students. Participants will learn assessment strategies and methodologies that aid in identifying function through a Functional Behavior Assessment and learn evidence-based interventions that match function of problem behavior. These principles, strategies, and interventions can be applied across the general education and special education setting regardless of age or disability. Learning will involve both content, reading of research, as well as hands-on practice and application. Participants will learn how to conduct indirect and direct, descriptive assessment strategies, preference assessment to determine reinforcers for appropriate behaviors and basic interventions proven effective based on more than 30 years of research.
