Visualizing Math: A Practical Workshop for Sign Language Interpreters

Sign Language Interpreters are faced with a unique challenge: they must render in their second language content in which they may or may not be well-versed. Teachers and other educational professionals receive content-rich training in academic subjects. Interpreters rarely have the opportunity to attend content-rich training with the addition of language-specific instruction in American Sign Language. This workshop will address this gap by providing both content-rich instruction in math and conceptually accurate renderings of mathematics concepts in ASL.

Instructor: Dr. Deborah Cates; contact: Allison Wilhelm

Session Number: 6918
Date: 4/16/16
Time: 8:00-4:00
Location: MBAEA, Bettendorf
Registration closes 4/13/16.

This is a free, no-credit workshop.
CEUs will be provided by the instructor.
