Working with middle school students in mathematics can be challenging when essential skills are missing. We will work to understand how to assess students in a useful and efficient manner. Teachers will create formative assessments, determine next steps for student understanding, and implement their plan in order to meet the needs of all students.
They will also:
1. Understand the Common Core Standards and the progression of learning for grades 6-8.
2. Understand the Common Core Practice Standards and their impact on instruction.
3. Understand the role of formative assessment in the PLC process.
The course will reference “Common Core Mathematics in a PLC at Work Grades 68” by Briars, Asturias, Foster, and Gale available from Amazon.com
Registration for this course will close on 7/6/15. Registrations after that date will be charged a $25 late fee.
