The DeCoste Writing Protocol is a formative assessment tool that helps educators identify factors affecting an individual student’s ability to produce writing. The Writing Protocol compares a child’s individual performance across handwriting and keyboarding tasks. It examines spelling performance and writing skills so educators make more informed decisions about instructional strategies and the appropriate use of technology to meet classroom demands. (From www.donjonston.com).
This workshop will provide an overview of the DWP. Participants will complete practice administration during the workshop and results will be reviewed and summarized in the context of recommendations for writing support.
Participants may purchase the DeCoste Writing Protocol or may check out a copy from the AT Loan Library (through
MBAEA SNAP, item # RC350). It will be important to have the DWP during the workshop and if the participant is planning to use the ATLL loan, the item should be reserved to match the workshop date. Please note that ATLL checkouts are available only to MBAEA and school district staff within MBAEA.
