Participants in this course will develop expertise in administering and analyzing Marie Clay’s An Observation Survey of Early Literacy Achievement (2013), and interpreting running records to inform the teaching of reading. The Observation Survey measures six literacy tasks: Letter Identification, Word Reading, Concepts About Print, Writing Vocabulary, Hearing and Recording Sounds in Words, Running Records of Text Reading and Slosson Oral Reading Test (R-SORT).
