Participants will investigate a rigorous curriculum design model with the intent of developing a year-long K-12 scope and sequence of the Iowa Core English Language Arts standards. In addition, participants will begin grade-level curriculum development which includes unwrapping standards into teachable concepts and skills, developing essential understandings and essential questions, creating end-of-unit assessments, and creating unit pre-assessments. This will lead to future work: the development of rigorous, standards-based lessons. Participants will also use Smarter Balanced Assessment documents and items to help guide the development of the curriculum. Participants will work in grade-level teams to further focus their work. Participation is by application.
Registration for this course will close on May 28, 2013. Registrations processed after the close date of the course will be charged an additional $25 late registration fee. You can access the course syllabus by clicking on the following link and searching for the course title Course Syllabus
