The focus of the school social work departmentís professional development is to build capacity in supporting students with challenging behavior. This will be done through the study of the Prevent, Teach, Reinforce (PTR), a process for developing effective behavior plans based on functional behavioral assessments. Data teams, collaboration and department meetings will be used to support the implementation of PTR, as well as increasing the knowledge of strategies and interventions that match the function of behavior when working with students with challenging behavior. Additional focus will be on developing our understanding and knowledge of Response to Intervention (RtI) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
