This course is restricted for Wilton Elementary School only.
This multi-session workshop developed for teachers of our budding writers in grades K-6 , will enrich writing experiences across the classroom curriculum content areas. Using a practical approach to teaching and creative ideas & activities that children love, teachers will learn how to create a writing environment that generates excitement and fosters success for each student.
Participants will learn:
• To strengthen their writing program using the 6+1 Traits® of Writing as they explore listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities that seamlessly integrate the Traits into daily writing experiences
• To create writing lessons that are flexible and easy to initiate in a busy classroom
• To prepare Trait-writing activities using award-winning literature titles found in school libraries or on personal bookshelves.
• To score writing samples through practical application of clear, concise, and visual rubrics that are student and teacher friendly. The guided instruction and practice of scoring real student papers written for actual assessment from our young writers will be an exclusive feature of this Institute.
Registrations processed after the close date of the course will be charged an additional $25 late registration fee.
