Tony Wagner - Choices, Changes and Challenges: Meeting the Needs of 21st Century Students
In the new global economy, with many jobs either automated or “off-shored”, what skills will students need to build successful careers? What skills will they need to be good citizens? In order to answer these questions Tony Wagner conducted research with business, nonprofit, philanthropic, and educational leader to identify seven survival skills that all students should master:
1) Critical thinking and problem solving,
2) Collaboration across networks and leading by influence
3) Agility and adaptability
4) Initiative and entrepreneurship,
5) Effective oral and written communication,
6) Accessing and analyzing information,
7) Curiosity and imagination,
and will align these survival skills to the Iowa Core Curriculum
