Bullet Make Yourself into a Maker - Makerspace: Builds 1-3
This course will help educators build the start of an ongoing series of different projects and themes to use in any makerspace grades K-12! This course is just a little bit about why you need a makerspace, but more important we will be focusing on the what and how behind turning any space into a makerspace. In each PD session you will build a new tool to support making in your school, library, or any other youth focused makerspace.

We will examine 5 questions about makerspaces and dive into the importance of focusing on the culture of a makerspace. Additionally, the audience will undergo a build, play, and share cycle through a hands on immersive challenge to experience the culture of learning. Students will learn how to apply these ideas into any classroom and school to make it work in any setting.

This class is built on the premise that we don’t talk about the ideas, we make the ideas. You can’t buy a Makerspace; you have to make one. Come ready to build, tinker, create, and construct the ideas that you can turn around and use in your makerspace tomorrow. You will walk away with enough ideas to last you a few months until the next session is available.

More important, the PD is designed to help create a cohort of lifelong learners to help one another when you head back to your school. The course is designed to provide the platforms to help you realize you are not alone and we can support each other along the way.

Bullet Make Yourself into a Maker - Makerspace: Builds 4-5
Make Yourself Into a Maker: Builds 4 and 5 will explore further concepts of the maker culture. The goal of this session to work with educators to understand, explore, design, and develop maker projects that can be infused to the standards they are expected to cover.

Like many things in education, this work cannot be an add-on. These two days we will unfold and explore how to weave this type of learning into the work we are already doing so it does not become one more thing.

You do not need to have attended Make Yourself into a Maker - Makerspace: Builds 1-3 to attend this session. While helpful, it will not put you behind. These two days are full of hands-on learning, less talk, more action style of learning.

Be ready to make, experiment, explore, and get messy as we develop learning that will help engage the learners we work within our learning spaces. Come ready to be awesome!

The first day we will explore how to take a picture book and connect it to any standard of any grade level and develop a project around the book and the standards.

The second day we will do a full day PD on the Makey Makey: Invention Literacy helping everyone learn how the Makey Makey works and how to use it in your learning space.

You do not have to have taken Maker Space Builds 1-3 to take this course.
